Palumbo Family Vineyards
2014 Grenache Blanc (Temecula)
One of the better whites to come from the South Coast, this wine, enhanced by 6% Viognier, shows a chalky nose decorated by light peach, squeezed Meyer-lemon peel and yellow flower aromas. The palate is texturally grippy and tense, with flavors of yellow pear, lemon rinds and ever-so-slight stonefruit, with tongue-tingling acidity deep into the finish. Read More

2012 Sophia's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Temecula)
From one of Temecula's shining stars comes this great bottling, with aromas of fresh boysenberry, vanilla bean, pencil lead, dried sage, bay leaf and sandalwood. It's somewhat light in body but packs a wide range of flavors, from thyme and oregano to graphite, black plum and elderberry, presented with chalky tannins. Read More
One of the promising wineries in the region presents this elegant blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, which shows dill, mint, black peppercorns, beef char and blackberry-blueberry fruit on the nose. The blackberry and plum-led palate picks up tobacco, oregano, dark spice and more charred-beef notes. Read More

Palumbo Family Vineyards is not on the main drag; you have to pay attention to the signs to find it. Travelling from South Coast Vineyards northeast on Rancho California Road, bear right onto Monte de Oro Road and then right onto Barksdale Circle. A wooden sign and a large wine barrel point to the road leading up a hill to Palumbo Family Vineyards.
You feel like you’ve reached a summit once you arrive at the parking lot. The view of the vineyards and Temecula Valley are spectacular. It’s quiet up here with a gentle breeze. Our first impression was a welcoming one; a large paved walkway lined with lavender, sea grass and rose bushes leads visitors to the tasting room. Housed in a converted barn with a stone façade and wide wooden double doors, the tasting room has a rustic sophistication with more of those spectacular views of the vineyard and Temecula Valley. Catfish Vineyard was the original vineyard that came with the property. The mature vines createsome of the most classic Bordeaux-style wines we have ever tasted in Temecula Valley. Webrought a bottle home withus to enjoy witha Saturday evening dinner. more
